Bitovi Bitops

BitOps is a portable Docker image that understands a defined structure, called an 'Operations Repo'. It is a way to describe the infrastructure and things deployed onto that infrastructure for multiple environments and ensures your application's declarative infrastructure is organized optimally and executed according to your schema.

Branding concepts

THE OBJECTIVE I met with the developers heading the Bitops project at Bitovi who needed a subbrand to represent their open-source Operations Repo concept. I decided to create an icon that spoke to data movement and storage, flexibility, scalability, plug-in/plug-out, security and containment, and structure.

The client expressed that they wanted to see options that utilized the hexagonal shape, circles that played off the Bitovi dots, and a play in the nautical direction.

Concept 1 includes sketches of impossible shapes with color gradients, symbolizing fluidity and seamless merging. Concept 2 features a Venn diagram with overlapping circles and color gradients.
Comparison of graphic design concepts. Concept 3 features nautical themes with sailboats and grid patterns. Concept 4 showcases data elements with pipeline and merging visuals, including network and hexagonal shapes.

Final options

We finalized a purple to Bitovi-red gradient, and I provided three final, finessed concepts for the icon.
